In 2022, Apple MacBooks have entered a new era. The business announced in 2006 that it would move away from the Intel chips it used and released the first Macs with the Apple-designed M1. That was pushed back to 2022 and the company added four more chips to the lineup: the M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra — two of which power the latest MacBook Pro — and the M2 chip next to the M1.

Like Apple’s iPhones, the chips run on ARM architecture and give the company more control over its hardware and software. They make your laptops more powerful and more energy efficient, which means greatly improved performance and battery life. Additionally, you get other perks like the ability to run mobile apps originally developed for iOS. However, choosing a MacBook is now very difficult. Apple no lengthier sells Intel-powered models, but you can still find one at a third-party reseller with a few years of support. Is it worth buying one? Or go all-in on Apple’s silicon? We think you should spend your hard earned money.
